Elaine & Dan had their ceremony in the Cotswolds at the beautiful Slaughter Manor House. 8 members of their close family attended & it was a lovely chilled, personal affair. The sun was shining all day, the surrounding area is quite breathtaking as you drive through. As a North East Wedding photographer its lovely to photograph around the UK and have new experiences at venues I might never have the chance to photograph at. I’ve photographed a few small personal ceremonies & I always really enjoy it. Slaughter Manor house was so stunning & it had beautiful spots for portraits. Elaine mentioned how she hated having her photo taken, which i get a lot from brides & I totally get it. I had to have my photo taken recently for some fresh marketing photos and wasn’t a fan of being in front of the camera. Thats why I make my couples feel as comfortable as possible whilst shooting & by just making it feel as natural as possible you don’t feel as though you’re being photographed & overly posed. Once I’d taken some portraits with them I left them to enjoy the rest of their night with their nearest & dearest.

Then two days later Elaine & Dan had their reception at their home in Gosforth. 2 giant marquees with 150+ friends and family to fill it. Street food, magicians, live music & a free bar! gave the wedding such a fun, relaxed vibe. They didn’t even let the rain get them down. For photographs it was all pure documentary, which I absolutely love. Zero posing & being taken away from their guests. Elaine & Dan were one of the most laid back, chilled couple I’ve ever photographed & I think it really shows in the photographs. I focused on the guests for their reception a lot & I really came away with some awesome moments.

Laura & Daryl had their wedding at Northside Farm. I’d never photographed there before & when I arrived I was amazed at the whole vibe of the venue. The tipis & huts really give it a fun, festival vibe. Laura & Daryl even made their own ‘INGLEFEST’ sign & lanyards for that extra festival touch. A lot of DIY detail as well at this wedding. Table settings, table plans, flowers & decor were all hand made by Laura with help from friends. Gave it a really fun personal touch.

One thing I love to see at weddings is closeness. Wether it be with your parents, siblings or friends. Weddings are an emotional day for anyone and for me the photographer it’s about seeking emotional moments. Tears or laughter. This wedding really showed me how close Laura & Daryl are with their family & friends. So much fun & laughter was had during them all getting ready to the hilarious speeches. Best man speeches are possibly my favourite part of the day. It’s hard to keep photographing when it’s a really funny one. All Daryl’s best man had to was look around the room before he opened his mouth everyone was in a fit of laughter. They knew what was coming to him.

Northside Farm really boasts some beautiful locations for portraits. I took Laura & Daryl into the woods and it gave them some time to be alone and away from the madness. After that was done I spotted a zip line & thought we have to get a shot on it, they were so up for it & we got some hilarious shots of them coming down it.

This wedding had one of the maddest dancefloors i’ve seen, it literally didn’t stop at all. It was still booming when I left at 11pm.

To me a wedding day is all about the moments. For some, a wedding can be the only time family & friends get to see each other. University friends that you haven’t seen in years, aunties, uncles, cousins. Its time for you and your closest and dearest to just catch up and let off some much needed steam. Sure its great to have some smiley posed photos of all these people looking into the camera, and of course for mums mantel piece, but isn’t it so much better to have natural candid photos of them? A wedding day can consist of so many different feelings: the nerves of the ceremony, the happiness of being hitched, the laughter & emotion of the speeches and the raw fun of the dance floor. This is why i’m there, to capture it all. Showing someones personality in a photograph. It really makes for an exciting album & moments to cherish. To look back on after years and really remember someone for a certain moment on your big day. To me this is better than just a smile.

What would you really prefer? An hour of awkward posing and someone telling you to look or 20 minutes of having a bit of a laugh with your Bride or Groom. I hate posing for photographs to, so I try and make portraits feel as natural possible. Have a chat and a laugh with each other. Kiss and hug each other. It is your day after all, so you might as well feel comfortable and be happy.

Fine Art Albums | Why you should have one

Fine Art Albums | Why you should have one

It’s an heirloom. It’s what I say to all my couples & it’s true. Do you still look at your parents weddings photos or even your grandparents? I’ve discovered old family photos & just be in awe with them. There is something really magical & special about looking back at your families wedding photos. I use fine art wedding albums from Henley Albums & I can honestly say they are quality built to last a lifetime. Thick fine art pages with your images printed onto them, with a choice of linen, leather, faux leather & metallic leather covers. As i’ve mentioned in previous blogs I don’t push extras, when it comes to Henley albums I don’t need to. They are something friends & family with be speechless with when you show them. I think the art of looking through physical photos is not lost & still love shooting film & getting it developed. So I think for wedding photos it’s so important to have an album. If you purchase an album with me you will receive a 14×10 size album with 25 spreads & 100 of your favourite images. Date & name embossed on the front is included. Extra spreads, album sizes & parent albums are available.

Here are some examples of these awesome albums:
