They are so much fun. It’s simple really. Fun for everyone; kids, drunken groomsmen, nan & grandad. They all absolutely love a photo booth. Obviously its great having your photographer there to capture all the candid moments at your wedding. But there is something about an instant print from a photo booth that is just one of the best memento’s of the day. Stick it in your memory box, glue it in a scrapbook or keep it in your wallet. Its something that you never really get anymore… printed photos of you and your friends/family. Instead of looking through 100+ images on your phone from the night wouldn’t you prefer an awesome print of you with your best mates in a photo booth wearing a horse mask & huge sunglasses? I know I would. As a North East & County Durham wedding photographer I recommend Essential Booth for all your photo booth needs. Based in Darlington & covering all over the North East & North Yorkshire. Take a look at some of their photo booth options below:
Do you hate being posed? I know I do. I hate having my photo taken & I feel your pain. Thats why as a County Durham wedding photographer I really put myself in your shoes & want you to feel comfortable & not stressing out on one of the most important days of your life & one you’ve spent years/months planning! Natural portraits is what I call them. Normally a relaxed walk & talk around your venue, having a kiss & a laugh. It’s really that simple. Oh & by the way this doesn’t take two hours. 30 mins max unless a couple asks for longer of course. Then you can relax in the confidence that you have lovely images of you both & can go and do the important thing, which is be with your friends & family. Here are some of my favourite natural portraits:
It’s hard work to keep kids entertained at a wedding. If there are multiple kids at a wedding they always band together and run round having a great time, it always makes for amazing photos. You never know what they are going to do and it can lead to some hilarious moments. But without something to keep them occupied it can be tough work for the parents. From experience as a North East & County Durham wedding photographer I can say that these ideas below are really fun & everyone loves them.
Here’s 5 ideas that I’ve seen at weddings that keep the kids (& adults) entertained:
You can NEVER have too much confetti! Its a shot that you must have at your wedding. There are different types of confetti & different ways for your photographer to capture it. As a North East & County Durham wedding photographer I’ve seen a lot of different confetti shots. Colourful hearts, bubbles, flower petals & rice. All work & look awesome on camera.
Here are my top 10 confetti shots from 2019 weddings:
Alrewas Hayes Country House, Birmingham
Black Friars, Newcastle
Wylam Brewery, Newcastle
Cooling Castle, Rochester
Newton Hall, Northumberland
Doxford Barns, Northumberland
Crathorne Hall, Yarm

Northside Farm, Northumberland
It so important to find a wedding photographer that suits YOU. It works both ways, I want my couples to be the right match for me. Thats why engagement shoots or coffee meet ups are great. We really get a feel for each other & you decide if you’d like to have this person at your wedding for 10+ hours. Not only just taking the photos but mingling with your family & friends. Its something I really love about weddings, I don’t just get to know the couple, but their friends & family as well. Its important to me that you’ve picked you right photographer for you, many times i’ve heard horror stories of the images being great but the photographer was an arse or the photographer was great but the images weren’t. So how do you pick the one for you? Well research is key. Get to a local fair and meet some photographers. Fairs are a bit like speed dating, but you never know it could lead to a first date & then you’ll be married before you know it!! 😉
I imagine you’ve looked at a million different photographers with a different style & just don’t know whats right for you. Light & airy, dramatic & dark, natural & vibrant. Once you’ve picked the style it’s all about meeting the right person for you. Then that narrows it down to hopefully a lot less photographers. Of course budget has a lot to do with it. Im biased of course, but photography is a very important part of the day. Its what immortalises your day! If you want amazing, unposed & natural images then get in touch. As a North East & County Durham wedding photographer I’d love to hear from you & talk about your plans for your big day. I also travel around the UK to shoot weddings, so if its outside the North East or North Yorkshire then please still get in touch.
